Adek Anagorn

-

A dek was born in the backwater hick town of Hayhill, the son of, unsurprisingly, a farmer. The traditional gender roles were reversed in his family, as his mother did most of the farm work, since his father was a priest. Coming from a long line of farmer stock, Adek is a large, muscular person. He is also not often quick to pick up new things. It's not that he's stupid, he actually has a fairly keen mind, its just that his upbringing until the age of 13 taught him little more than how to be a good farmer and a hard worker. His father, however, began teaching him how to read early in life. He also tried to give him a good background on history and religion, but Adek proved not to be a very enthusiastic or attentive pupil.

A t the age of 14, Adek left Hayhill with nothing but his parent's blessing, some supplies, and the clothes on his back, and began to wander. After a brief run-in with some brigands that left Adek without his supplies, he rejected his father's pacifist ideals, and set out to learn how to defend himself. Though a few years of training with various swordsmen, Adek learned to effectively wield a sword, and even picked up a little bit of magic. He then again began to wander the world, never staying in one place long, and only rarely visited his family.

D uring his travels, Adek's experiences made him more and more convinced that his father was wrong. While the premise that violence was a bad thing he could accept, he couldn't accept that good people never used it. Indeed, the more he thought about it, the more he believed that it was important for people to learn how to protect themselves and others from those who would hurt them. With the vague idea of someday being able to somehow use his skills for the aid of others, he began to hone his swordsmanship.

A dek never really managed to realize his goal, whatever it was, until recently when he joined the fight against the Danek. At first, it was merely a fight he was in because the people he was travelling with seemed to be in the right, and the Danek in the wrong. All thoughts of abstractions such as justice flew out of his mind after the incident at Hayhill, however. When his town was burned, his friends and relatives all either killed or carried away by the Daneks, the fight became personal. He is now torn between his believe that random killings are an atrocity, and his desire to slaughter every person who wears the Danek uniform. To add to all of this, Gwen's recent death has reminded him of his own mortality, and of odds against his surviving in a battle against the mightiest empire on Vay. As such, he has decided to avoid any serious emotional attachments that could be used against him... but he can't deny that he has feelings for Savannah. One thing is certain, though. He won't rest until Issak pays for what happened to Hayhill.. or his own body is planted in the ground.
